The Spanish term "Las Alturas" means "the heights", a fitting name for this vineyard located on one of the highest grape-growing benches in the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA up to 1,200 feet. At this elevation, the sunny but very cool climate creates a wine bearing all the hallmarks of this coastal region: robust, expressive, full-bodied, and balanced by a firm acidity. My goal with each of the Belle Glos single-vineyard Pinot Noirs is to express the uniqueness of each vineyard and craft a genuine style of California Pinot Noir that is layered, complex, fruit-forward and rich. Our Las Alturas vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County is well suited to producing a wine in our signature style.

Belle Glos Las Alturas Santa Lucia Highlands by Joe Wagner is a premium Pinot Noir wine sourced from high vineyards in Santa Lucia Highlands. It has aromas of dark cherry, vanilla, and spice, and a complex palate of ripe berries, oak, and minerality. Crafted with traditional techniques and modern technology, this wine has a rich, velvety texture and a long, lingering finish. Joe Wagner, a fifth-generation winemaker, brings a deep respect for the land and grape to each bottle. Pair it with grilled meats, rich pasta dishes, seafood, or cheese. Or, savor it alone to fully appreciate its exceptional depth and complexity.
