  • GET THE PERFECT TEXTURE: To get the perfect texture, you’ll want 1 ¾ cups of water per 1 cup of basmati rice. You can also adapt the recipe to your preference: for slightly drier rice use a quarter cup less water, and to make it moister use a quarter cup more water

BASMATI RICE

Directions

On the Stove 1. In a saucepan, bring water to a boil. 2. Stir in rice. If desired, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 teaspoon salt per cup of uncooked rice. 3. Cover. Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until all water is absorbed. For drier rice, use 1/4 cup less water. Or, for moister rice, use 1/4 cup more water. In the Microwave 1. In a 2-quart microwave-safe dish, combine 1-3/4 cups water and 1 cup rice. If desired, add 1 tablespoon olive oil and 1 teaspoon salt per cup of uncooked rice. 2. Cover and microwave on HIGH for 5 minutes. 3. Reduce setting to 50% power, microwave for 10 minutes. Let stand for 5 minutes. **It is recommended that only 1 cup of rice be prepared in the microwave at a time. Microwave ovens vary. Cooking times are approximate.
