We created Harken Chardonnay because we missed that rich, oaky taste of Chardonnays gone by. We believe everybody should be able to enjoy well made, smooth Chardonnay. That’s why we make Harken without shortcuts; harkening back to the original barrel fermentation process. Winemaker Adam Popp barrel ferments 100% of our Chardonnay, which imparts that creamy malolactic goodness you just can’t fake. For added complexity of flavor, Harken ferments and ages in our signature fusion barrels, which are made of alternating staves of French and American oak. Sometimes we wonder if our wine is bilingual. Throughout aging, our barrels are hand stirred every two weeks to reintegrate the lees with the juice and deliver that luscious mouthfeel. Tedious? Yes. Delicious? Also yes. Harken is made from 100% Chardonnay grapes grown under California sunshine without GMO’s or pesticides.
