The carbohydrate (aka sugar) you're seeing comes from lactose, the natural sugar in milk! We get it, labels can be confusing. We could've used a carbohydrate like maltodextrin, which doesn't appear as a sugar on the label but has been shown to raise blood sugar more than lactose - but that's not our style.
